NZGD2000 Kaikoura deformation model update

A new version of NZGD2000 (version 20171201) was released on 14 January 2018. The deformation model in this version includes "patches" for the movement due to the Kaikoura earthquake of 14 November 2016 and subsequent post-seismic deformation. As a result NZGD2000 coordinates have been changed in the area most affected by the earthquakes. Also the geodetic control network has been updated with coordinates from the National Geodetic Adjustment (NGA) which includes post-earthquake survey data. For more information on this update see the LINZ website

PositioNZ-RT coordinates will now be updated on 23 January 2018

The Geodetic Database can be used to search for and download information about 127722 geodetic marks in New Zealand, the Chatham Islands, and Antarctica.

The database can be accessed by searching on a map or by using a text only version. The geodetic database is also available on Apple mobile devices. The Android geodetic mark app is currently under redevelopment to be compatible with modern Android operating systems. It is expected to be released in early 2017.
